Do you know how long I've watched you?
I've seen you face death so many times.
You've braved the enemy’s weapon's-fire
        and the utter cold of space
        and the wrath of human enemies.

Do you know how long I've watched you?
I've seen you hurt by love so many times.
By the lingering pain of a missing love,
        and the obsessive grip of another's fear,
        and the time you didn't have.

Do you know how long I've watched you?
I've seen your pain so many times.
The times your body has been wounded,
        and your soul has been haunted,
        and you've silently grieved for your losses.

Do you know how long I've watched you?
And wished that you were watching me...
And wished you knew I could soothe the pains,
        and free your emotions,
        and give you time to be and do
        all that you deserve to be and do.
