Date: Tue, 9 Apr 1996 From: Michele Martin Subject: If you thought G80 was bad.... Hey All! I don't know if I should really subject y'all to this, but what the heck.... Recently, despite all our best attempts as a list to deny its existence, the subject of G80 has resurfaced, mostly of course, to reiterate just how bad it really was. However, just to keep things in perspective I present the following, an idea that popped into my head after a spontaneous discussion at lab today regarding the ubiquitious presence of Aaron Spelling in American television. G80 was bad, very bad, but things could have been much worse. For example, what if...Aaron Spelling had taken over the second season of Battlestar Galactica? Instead of Galactica 1980, we could have had....... GALACTICA 90210 In the season opener, Starbuck wrestles with questions about his relationship to Cassiopea. Teetering on the brink of deciding to ask her to be his wife, he is shocked and horrified to accidently learn that she's been secretly having a torrid affair with...Apollo!! Feeling confused, betrayed and hurt, he seeks comfort with his ex-lover Athena, only to learn that she's been having a clandestine torrid affair with...Boomer! He flees to the celestial chamber to seek solace and to gather his thoughts and finds Sheba there, also struggling to deal with her own sudden discovery of the Apollo's relationship with Cassiopea. Drawn together by their mutual hurts, they begin their own torrid affair. Meanwhile, tension in the command structure mounts as Tigh and Adama both strive to win the attentions of Siress Tinia. When Adama proves victorious, Tigh plots to take over control of the Galactica _and_ the Council of the Twelve. However, his plans are thwarted at every turn by Omega and Rigel, who aren't having a torrid affair only because they were secretly sealed three sectons earlier while on furlon in the Chapel O' Love on board the Rising Star. Elsewhere on the Galactica, Jolly is feeling increasingly depressed and overwhelmed due to mounting pressure from his job as a Colonial Warrior and because there are no really strong female characters left with whom he can have a torrid affair. Seeking some form of escape and some extra currency, he turns first to mushie dealing. He lures poor, innocent Boxey into the dark world of mushie addiction. **************************************************** I'm sorry--I don't know _where_ that came from. My only excuse is that it's late and I didn't get enough sleep last night and lab has been really stressful and, and.... I'm just a very sick and twisted person. :) Michele
